The ultimate goal for our rescued dogs is placement into a quality forever home. Adopting any dog is a major commitment, and no one should enter into it unless they are prepared to devote time, patience, love, and financial resources for expenses such as medical needs.

In addition, dogs (much like people) have their own unique habits, likes, and dislikes. A successful adoption depends on placing the dog into an environment that he or she is compatible with, and that takes more information than anyone can get from a quick glance at a photograph.

To help Dachshund Lovers of Texas make the most compatible match, we require potential adopters to submit an application. We use the information provided to help us determine whether the placement is likely to be successful. We respect your privacy, and any information you submit will not be used for any other purposes.

Submitting an application does not obligate you in any way, but approval is the first step in the adoption process. Dachshund Lovers of Texas reserves the right to refuse to approve any adoption based on our judgment of what is in the best interests of the dog.  Adopters are required to be over 21 years of age.  With some exceptions, preference is given for local or in-state adoptions.  When in doubt, apply- there's no cost or obligation, and you won't know if you don't ask.

Following the application process, a meeting will be arranged with the dog for an approved applicant. If all goes well in the opinion of both the applicant and the representative of Dachshund Lovers of Texas, then the adoption may be completed. An adoption agreement will be required, as will payment of the associated fee, to finalize the adoption and accept delivery of the dog.

We require a reasonable process time to review the application and verify any information required, but you will be contacted regarding your status as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
